I was in kappa working to help out and the grls that work there suggested this place for us stl workers to try . I definitely thought the bartender was nice and made us some good food when we come back in the next few weeks we will stop in and order more food for sure.

Love this place! Food is great, the staff are all so nice!!

Appetizers and burgers were exceptional, but the service wasn't good. One waitress/cashier for a packed house, and she was rude to boot. Took 30 minutes for our order (she did warn us when we sat down) but waited at the register for 15 mins to pay our bill. Get some more help!

This little place is PERFECT. It is part pub, part lake side eatery and part local grocery. The hamburgers are down right addictive and the folks you run into are pretty darned nice. It is simple, no hostess, no table cloths, no frills... But that adds to the charm.

I love this place! Had my first date there and now we've made a habit of stopping everytime we are in the area! Delicious food and friendly staff. Food took a while but that was only because of how busy they were because it's so good! Even still they gave us extra for taking extra time.

Probably one of the best "fast food" type burgers available. Atmosphere is very casual. Frequented by locals and by those spending a day at the lake. This place is half grocery store and half bar and grill. Definitely a "dive" bar feel - in a good way. There's a small bar top, along with booth and table seating.Things to know: Seat yourself, pay at the counter, and cash only. They do have an ATM available. There is a pool table and some coin operated video games. Very small venue. They have domestic beers and a lot of fried fare: mushrooms, cauliflower, corn nuggets, fries, onion rings, cheese balls, cheese sticks.Staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is laid back. This time we went on a Sunday afternoon around 1 pm and it did get a little busy with almost all tables filled, and serviced slowed due to low staffing. But, all in all, service was still pretty quick.

Interesting place... It has history, the breakfast and service was great. Beautiful town.I liked the ole time atmosphere and the Stanley cup visisited there. Love that.

This epitomizes "hole-in-the-wall." It is off the beaten path (no cell phone coverage inside) but well worth it!! It is no frills with basic burgers that are greasy and tasty. Be warned: they only accept cash. And if you go in the summer time, it may take a while to get your burger as they only have a small grill. Also be warned: they use peanut oil for their fried foods.

Great cheeseburgers, side salads, cheese balls, fried cauliflower, and fries. Bloody Marys are good.

Best burgers in the area hands down. Servers ain't the friendliest but who cares it's bar food and they get the orders right. The flies are polite however, they just sit and watch you eat, none of them dive bombed the food or me it was bizarre maybe they're domesticated? only recommendation is they need to change out the ketchup squeeze bottles occasionally, ours and the one I took off the table next to me were bubbling with extra fermentation, and we're super sour blech, the burgers rule though. And the breakfast while not the top of the line stuff is super cheap and pretty damn good, even the cheapo store bought bisquit with powdered gravy ain't too shabby, on the level of McDonald's which is acceptable, prices are unbeatable for breakfast really.

You just cannot beat this place. With its old time charm and delicious food, and family atmosphere, it really is everything you could want in a lake community

Great burgers, cheese balls, fries and beer at a great price. This no-frills cash-only bar is a classic, and now I see why. Hardly anything on the menu over $5, quick service, and tasty food. Everyone needs to experience Green Gables

This place was supposedly voted best burger around; my dad makes better burgers on the grill. The meat had no flavor, or maybe I just couldn't taste it through all the grease. It was just a plain old white burger bun, not toasted. It was suggested by the waitress, who was very friendly & helpful (which is why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1), that I get a double because the meat patties are so thin. Their iced tea was just awful & was served in a disposable plastic cup, I would have thought it was water but for the slight tan tinge of color. The appetizers were absurdly small portions for the price they were charging. The music on the speakers was so incredibly loud that it was hard to carry on a conversation at my table. There were a lot of customers so either they knew what the good thing was to order or they all had a much different opinion on good food than I do.

This place is nothing special. It’s doubtful the burgers are better than anywhere else. I went in and sat down at the bar in the middle of a long bike ride. I wasn't greeted and after 10 minutes of just sitting there, no one asked me if I wanted anything, while the staff hung out and socialized with people at the bar. So I went across the street to the Lake Road Inn and had a good burger. I won’t try Green Gables again.

Absolutely delicious! They are my guilty pleasure, as they not what could be considered "health food" but the food is always fantastic and extremely well priced. Four people can have dinner with plenty of food for all at under $40!

There are only a handful of burger joints in this area I would even consider, and this jumped to the top of that list. If you like the thin stack burger, with a great taste you will enjoy your time here. Service was friendly, and we got 4 double burgers served up within minutes. You can hear them throwing the meat on the grill, no illusions of how fresh it all is.

I have been going to Green Gables for a very long time and it's one of my favorites. My entire family loves Green Gables. Their double cheeseburger is my favorite in the area. The cheese balls are a must try!! I also love their corn nuggets. Service is always great and very friendly! I can't recommend this place enough!

It's a dump. Waited a long time. The sandwiches and fried mushrooms and cheese we're good.

Best hamburgers in town. Be aware that everything is cooked either on the grill or in the deep fryer. The beer selection is what you'd expect from a local pub. Friendly service, great food, and a unique environment in this long time Lake Bloomington staple. Be aware that it is CASH ONLY, but there is an ATM available.

If you are looking for the perfect bar burger and fries, this is your place. They are awesome! Cash only, but they do have an ATM. Definitely worth the stop.

Cozy dive bar by lake Bloomington. Our server was charismatic and friendly. We had lots of questions about the menu, he was patient and helpful. The food is filling and modestly priced. Highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t been.

Best burgers I've ever had in my life. Better than five guys. Better than whataburger better than meatheads. This place is a Bloomington area landmark and should not be missed.

I have heard about this restaurant called Green Gables for years. Apparently they have great cheeseburgers. Finally, my wife took me there (I am not from here originally) and I was not disappointed. Now, it isn't the swankiest place in town, but for a small town feel, with great food, it is a must experience. The only odd thing is CASH ONLY in the 21st century.

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat. Service and food was great!
